Privacy Policy

This policy describes the limited visitor information a private reference resource may receive, the purposes for which it is used, and the situations in which a service provider may process it. It applies to use of Lenoir County Court Docket and should be read together with the privacy terms of any outside search provider selected through a link or search box.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name, record number, or other term entered into an embedded search tool is sent to the provider that operates that tool. That provider processes the query under its own policy. This resource does not maintain a separate log of the search terms entered through the provider.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If you send an email, the message and contact details may be retained to respond and maintain the correspondence. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, ordinary server and analytics systems can receive technical visit data, including:

  • IP address and visit timestamp
  • Browser, device type, and operating system
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • The referring site, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small browser files that can support site operation and aggregated traffic measurement. Browser controls can limit or block them, although some features may then function differently. Analytics reports are used in aggregate to understand performance and page use.

What We Do With This Data

The information is used to operate and secure the resource, route a search to the selected provider, diagnose technical problems, measure aggregate use, and support advertising that may be interest-based.

No Court-Record Data on File

This resource does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of court dockets or personal case files. It provides reference information about Lenoir County access channels, including the Clerk of Superior Court, the trial courts, and the North Carolina eCourts Portal. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention practices, and data-sharing terms govern information entered there. Review those terms before submitting a query because this resource does not control them.

Links to Other Websites

Links can lead to court, clerk, Portal, or third-party websites. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the destination's own privacy practices control. Review them before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems for interest-based advertising or measurement across sites; that activity is governed by their policies.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Depending on the service used, information may be processed by:

  • Search providers selected by the visitor
  • Analytics and hosting services that support performance
  • Advertising networks serving page advertisements
  • Government bodies when a valid legal obligation requires disclosure

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable safeguards are used to protect information within the service, but no online transmission or storage method is completely secure. Absolute security cannot be promised.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor provided information, they may request its removal.

Your Data Rights

North Carolina court-record access is governed in part by G.S. 7A-109 and the general public-records framework in Chapter 132, subject to judicial confidentiality rules. Those laws do not change the visitor-data practices in this policy. A visitor may still request to:

  • Ask for a copy of personal information held in direct correspondence
  • Seek correction of inaccurate contact information
  • Request deletion where retention is not required
  • Use browser or provider controls to limit certain processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date.
